Early Life and CareerGeorge Eastman was born on July 12, 1854, in the village of Waterville, New York.
He was the youngest of three children. His childhood home, where he was born and raised, was later moved to the Genesee County Museum in Mumford, New York. When George was five years old, his father passed away, leaving the family in a difficult financial situation.

At the age of 14, George had to drop out of school to work and support his family. He started as a messenger in an insurance company, and later became a clerk in another insurance firm. He took on additional responsibilities and learned bookkeeping in the evenings, hoping to secure a better-paying position.
In 1874, after five years of working in the insurance
